After listening to the tent take a hammering from the wind all night, crawled out to a view of Croyde Bay with over head high waves & white caps everywhere.
On pulling up at the Ho! people were just getting off with 4.2's, with drizzle & about 8knts blowing, obviously it had just dropped off,Bugger.
After a while, i decided i would try a wobble out & ride back in session, The 1st 2 runs out really were a wobble out, with the waves clean & maybe 2ft over head high i was glad to make it out back for excellent rides in. Then the drizzle past over & the wind started to fill a little, with some pumping i was planning, but soon it was solid 5.7m wind.
The waves towards the river mouth were now quite big & timing the runs was essential, i had 3 chicken gybes in front of what looked like 3/4 mast high dumping sections.
With near cross shore & picking up swells way out this was a excellent sail. What started out as floating out ended up with 2 hrs of Ace wave riding & some big jumps & all most landing a backloop in front of some surfers...
& the sun came out for a while. it was only me & 1 other guy out?
